Why one name produces several results
A CurseForge Verity search does not lead to one universal package. CurseForge separates Minecraft Java mods, Bedrock add-ons, and modpacks, while independent creators can publish projects inspired by the same character. Search results may therefore share Verity in the title but differ in owner, game edition, file format, loader, and scope. Treat each result as a separate software identity.
The most reliable identifier is the numeric Project ID shown in the Details area, combined with the owner name. A title or readable URL can change or resemble another listing. For every CurseForge Verity page you consider, record the project type, owner, Project ID, supported versions, and latest compatible file before comparing features or popularity.
The Java Edition listing
Verity JE by VarmiteYT is the principal Java listing covered by this guide. Its page displays Project ID 1591438, identifies the environment as client and server, and lists Forge and NeoForge under modloaders. The current Files area is the authority for which release supports which Minecraft version. Do not infer Fabric support or use a Bedrock setup guide for this Java project.
The description also contains project-specific setup information and a warning about a deprecated branch. Read it immediately before installing because a CurseForge Verity summary written earlier may no longer reflect current files. If you use the CurseForge app, select a profile whose Minecraft version and loader match the chosen file; the app's support documentation explains that incompatible profiles cannot correctly use a mismatched mod.
The two prominent Bedrock listings
Verity BE by Undertaletalelover is a Bedrock add-on with Project ID 1574632. Verity - Bedrock Edition by PnTMC is another Bedrock add-on with Project ID 1575941. Both appear in CurseForge Verity searches, but they have different owners, file histories, descriptions, and gameplay instructions. They should not be presented as mirrors of one another.
Open the exact add-on page and read its required game build, expected MCADDON filename, activation steps, and experiment notes. Minecraft Help distinguishes Bedrock add-ons from Java mods, so a JAR from the Java listing is not a fallback for Bedrock. When sharing a recommendation, include the full project URL and owner rather than saying only that it is on CurseForge.
Mods, add-ons, and modpacks are different
A Java mod usually adds one component to a loader profile. A Bedrock add-on uses resource or behavior packs. A modpack is a curated profile that may bundle many mods, configuration, and a loader. CurseForge Verity results can contain all three categories. Installing a modpack when you intended a single mod changes far more of the game and creates a different update path.
